Dr. Martén wears many hats as the business owner and Doctor of South Texas Eye Institute. Dr. Martén instills this care with her staff too by being involved with her staff teachings and discussions. She also partnered with the American Heart Association and Diabetes America to create Public service Announcement and Flash Mob Dance Videos around Heart Health, Diabetes, and how it relates to the eye.

Dr. Martén is a leader for her community in numerous ways. She volunteers her time to be an on-call emergency eye care doctor for the Rampage hockey players. She also recently went on a mission trip, where she performed 60 cataract procedures in Costa Rica with a team.
